The Web evolution: Web 1.0, Web 2.0, Web 3.0, X.0 - Static websites: e-portfolios for professional purposes

All that we have today is not there by chance, they did not appear from nothing. In the ICT world, most of the things have evolved. For example: long time ago, there were only webs 1.0 or spaces that did not allow the interaction or exchange of information and content, as we know today. Right now, most of the platform are working with the 2.0 webs ‘format. Why? Because right now, the users have a voice and they like to express themselves or in some cases add extra information, knowing this, what are we going to do as teachers of English as Foreign language? What are the advantages or disadvantages of using the web 1.0 and 2.0? What could be great for us to use?

In this particular article, I am going to be focus my attention to the most used one, the web 2.0. The interactive platform that as I mentioned before; it allows the interaction with the users. It could be either dynamic or static. If we decide to enter in this world and start producing materials or content that could be useful for our students. We could consider to incorporate or use the e-portfolios. You might be asking yourself what an e-portfolio is and how it could help you to be a better teacher.  Many universities in USA are using them to evaluate their students. According to San Francisco´s University among its benefits, we can find these:
We can collect and save course information, share examples of your work with advisors, faculty, mentors or potential employers. We can also demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attributes gained within and beyond the classroom, master valuable technology skills and create a valuable bridging tool for your next job! [1]. by knowing these benefits, why not to try to start creating your own e-portfolio? Maybe, this is our time to evolve and create. “According to a Forbes article, 56% of all hiring managers are more impressed by a candidate’s e-portfolio than any other personal branding tool. However, only 7% of job seekers actually have one”. [2] One of the most important aspects that we need to ask about to ourselves is what kind of information would we love to publish?. How would our digital footprint be? We need to add our contact information, resume, the services that we offer, list of awards or recognition and some testimonials (this last one could support our results).

One of the small but an important advice is that we must create a meaningful email account, where people and users could write us back. The time to try and produce something is now.
