Videos and other useful Web 2.0 tools

We have the opportunity to grow every day. Each day is passing we become wiser or that is the goal or the natural course of being on Earth. While some people evolving others are involving.  What makes the difference between those types of people? We must observes two words resistance and assertiveness.

    What are these two Word so important? They could determine our professional or personal grow in every area of our lives. They reflects the attitude that we can assume in front of each obstacle. Regarding the use of technology, people have the option to resist to its use and be afraid of them or they just can figure out how they can use them for their own goodness. We can see this example clearly when Internet was created and launched; there were people that were afraid of that and resisted to use it. On the other hand, they were a lot of people that were opened to use it and they started to learn how to use it.

The last example is not just the only one; I was so touched by a movie called “Hide Figures”, an amazing movie that exemplifies it perfectly throughout the story of three afro descendant women that were working for Nada. These wonderful and smarts women had the duties of helping to calculate, they were the human calculators. They had to face that new machines (the huge and faster calculators) had arrived to NASA, and maybe they would lose their jobs because of them. In steed of waiting for their tragedies, one of them decided to prepared herself and teach to the others. She tough these machines cannot be operated by themselves. For that reason, we must learn and be prepare. At the end of the story, NASA could not dismissed anyone. All of the women were operating the new machines because the decided to be assertive on their decision and be open to the changes.

As the previous example our world is evolving and we need to adapt ourselves to take the best of those changes. Technology must become in our best friend for teaching. Why? For many reasons. One of them is that this new generation is eager to learn and they want to do it faster. Secondly, they love technology. Millennial need to be taught in a dynamic way due that have been exposed to the technology and they are more familiar with technology (more than we are sometimes),

As teacher, I was used to use listen Music and just learn the lyrics but now, I realized that a video is not a simple video. It could be a source of many grammar points and phonetics as well, among other aspects. There are many ways to use technology for our own benefit and our student as well.

         I noticed how important technology is these last years. A simple picture sending through WhatsApp or hangout could be a source of money for us. There are many benefits and advantages of using ICT in our lives. After taking my ICT class with Professor Evelyn, I have been getting aware of how much we need to reconcile ourselves with technology. When we heard about a new application, we can feel the necessity of running away and not to confront our fears of did not know nothing about it. As a reflection, we must try to be more open to the new.
